History of the ICE talk in Reading

Mike Chrimes was formally the director of engineering policy and innovation and played a key role in developing the ICE’s commercial events programme and digital recording offering. He has written and lectured extensively on the history of civil engineering and co-authored the newly published The Contractors, charting the development of contracting from the early days of direct labour, through to the canal building of the 18th century.
